The Bi Girl Experience ft. Toriskingdom

What kind of bisexual are you?

  • We hear some stereotypes our followers have about bisexual women and discuss a bit about how these stereotypes are harmful

  • Tori tells us what it’s like to be a queer person in the church and becoming disenchanted with homophobia in the church

  • We talk about negativity on social media and how it has the potential to be a powerful tool for social change, but isn’t always used in the right ways

Bisexuality, religion, and the pros and cons of social media

We have the wonderful Tori (aka @toriskingdom on TikTok) joining us this week, and begin the episode by deep diving into bi girl stereotypes during our segment. We break down the harmful effects of being seen as slutty, greedy, fake, ‘just hopping on a trend’ and how the ‘bi girl’ identity is so often invalidated.

Tori then shares her experience as a queer person joining and leaving the church after finding out that her church was homophobic. We discuss how Tori came out to her family and friends, and what it’s like to realise you’re bisexual. To end the episode, Tori tells us about the reality of having a following on social media and the negativity she witnesses everyday, as well as giving us advice on how to rise above the people that are choosing to spread harmful massages. We end up having a full discussion about social media and its potential but also its power for destruction, and Tori tells us about the importance of activism in raising people’s awareness about marginalised people’s lives.

We hope you enjoy the episode! If you’re having trouble with your sexual orientation, know you’re not alone. It’s hard to know who you’re attracted to and if it’s valid to feel that way, but we promise you it will become clear in time, and there’s no pressure to label anything if you’re not ready to. You’ve got this and we’re here for you!
